Hi, just wondered if this is a geranium you cut right back after flowering. Thanks for reading

Hi there. Yes it is and you can do this with all of the other hardy geraniums too.

Once the wretched rain ceases I'll be giving all of mine a short back and sides! image

Isn't that supposed to be tomorrow!! I keep reading  things that say it doesn't need cutting back but it hasn't ever been cut and I thought it might do it good even though it's really looking shabby.

It does get leggy. I sometimes dig up patches and replant the best bits more deeply

I do mine every year without fail and they look really tidy. I even ruthlessly pull out any bits that have strayed 'out of bounds' and it never seems to bother the plant.

I had a very therapeutic day massacring, sorry cutting back, the geranium macrorrohizum. It hadn't been done for years so underneath the foliage there was quite leggy brown growth. found it quite hard to know how much of this to cut back. It hangs over a wall and I want it to do that again. Any thoughts?
