Seed swap

Could someone tell me the best way to send seeds in the post - I have some small seal able plastic bags - would they be suitable popped into an envelope.

I have common Aquilegia - deep purple or subtle pink.

Geum Mrs Bradshaw

Phacella tanacetifolia

I will have honesty and giant poppies in a few weeks.

Message me if you are interested in any of these.

Don't put seeds into plastic bags, they sweat and then rot. I use junk mail envelopes cut up and sellotaped.

For posting, I then put the little packets into an ordinary envelope to post.

  • Yes, I was thinking that too about sweaty seeds fidgetbones, but couldn't think of an alternative. I don't have much junk mail (lucky eh), so will think of an alternative if anyone wants any of these seeds.

Small plastic bags are fine just for sending in the post as they're only in the bags for a very short time. For longer term storage I use small paper envelopes that are used for children's dinner money/petty cash. You can sometimes find them in pound shops and definitely in a good stationery shop.

  • Yes, thanks both fidgetbones and soulboy for your ideas, I will certainly be using them, however it seems that no-one on here is interested in the seeds so far - but they will be available for some time yet as I don't normally sow until about September/October time.

GD, just type Seed swap 2016 into the search box at the top right hand side of the page and repost your seeds in there.

  • Thanks Soulboy, I have just done that.
