Micro Baby Leaf

The tightest says:

Hi,

I've been growing the micro/baby leaf stuff from well known seed suppliers but its getting too expensive. Some of the trays end up costing more than buying the end product.

I'm trying sunflower seeds at the moment as they are cheap enough. Any other recommendations of a cheap seed suitable for this?

I can't justify the price of the radish, lettice, broccoholi etc at £1 for a 10" x 5" tray.

Anyone come accross forums for this?

Thanks in advance

t

Just to clarify - I'm want to grow to an inch or two tall. Either in soil or on mats. I'm also 'sprouting' seeds/beans but also want micro-greens.

If you google 'micro green seeds' you'll find them much cheaper.  For example I found cnseeds.co.uk  selling broccoli seeds at £7.95 for 250g.  At 350 seeds per gram that's an awful lot (nearly 90,000 seeds) for the money.  Nicky's nursery sells alfalfa seeds at £2.15 for 40g (that's nearly a million seeds!)

I think you just need to do some in-depth searching and ignore the more well-known seed suppliers. image

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
