Harvesting scabiosa, iris and lupin seeds

Lee Alexander says:

Hi,

I'm hoping to begin growing my own plants from seed. I've always wanted to do this as I'm sure it will be more rewarding than buying plants! At the moment I have lupins, a scabiosa and some iris pods which I'd like to try. Any advice on when to collect, how to store, when and how to sow would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Lee

Lupins self-seed enthusiastically in my (rather cold) garden, so I think they like being sown fresh. Leave the spikes to mature completely on the plants and collect as them as they are about to fall.

If you collect seeds of other plants to store, then I find that paper envelopes kept in a plastic bag in the salad drawer of the fridge work well.

I came across a post on this site which gives info on growing iris from seed -
