Moving a Potentilla

My Potentilla is currently flowering and looking lovely but I have noticed it is a being a bit overwhelmed by a nearby Nandina. I am guessing now is not a good time to move it, when if at all, should I attempt to find it a bigger spot? Thanks

I'd move it in the winter, when it's dropped its leaves.  Moving shrubs in summer is possible, but because some of their roots inevitably break when you dig them up, they often wilt and become unhappy.

Sorry, I forgot to mention it was only planted last year, so not sure if that makes it easier move?

It certainly does, Meomye.  If you need to move it now, water it very well before you dig it up, and prepare a hole to move it to, so it doesn't have to sit around while you choose a new spot for it.  It will have rooted into the surrounding soil but you probably won't need a massive root ball to ensure you don't break the new, fine roots.  Keep it well watered in the coming months.
