imageimagegood morning :-) i have had this for around 3 years, thought it was a jasmine, but I'm not so sure now as it has never flowered....not one single bud!     I'm wondering if it might be happier planted out rather than in that pot?

hi yes to looks like a jasmine, probably better in the ground but I have two in big deep pots and they do very well. how big is the pot ? how old is it, can take upto 3 years to flower?  feeding it FBB ? it certainly looks healthy - may need the feeding to flower.

Definitely jasmine, we had one here, but it just wasn't happy, took 5 years to produce a few flowers.

My friend has one that is half way up his house and has a mass of flowers all summer and it is in full baking sun.

Mine was in semi shade and it never thrived.

thanks for the quick response.  the pot is 40cm wide and 40cm deep.  only been in that since last year.  it grows really well and always looks healthy, just disappointed it hadn't flowered.  it gets regular feeds so I don't think it's lacking anything, except maybe more space   image

I have this one brought it this year, it's in full sun and a fairly deep pot with a trellis. Been flowering since June.

I've just completed garden renovations and could plant it out on an arch now where it will get full Sun all day......but is it a bad idea to move it now or should I wait?

I think it would be possible to plant it out now providing you can keep it well watered.

There are several different varieties of summer-flowering jasmine, and they don't all flower equally well, in my experience.  Some are hardier than others, they all need sun, and some don't flower particularly freely in the north.

Some produce their flowers on growth they make the preceding year, so don't hack it back in the spring or you could be cutting off flower buds - general advice is to prune after flowering (which obviously you can't do yet... but you could cut it back in August this year if you need to).

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

thanks everyone.  think I will plant it out, I'm having to water the new turf all the time anyway, so will be  easy enough to keep it watered.  thanks again image
