Translucent leaves on perennial wallflowers

my perennial wallflowers both normal and variagated have been constant colour since March but lately they have failed to bloom and their leaves appear to be translucent in spots followed by holes appearing. I can't see any pests on them but perhaps someone might know what caused it and how to cure it!

It looks like damage by one of the many types of leaf-miners.  I'd pick off the affected leaves and destroy.  The plants should recover, maybe they're just having a rest - they don't flower all year round.

However perennial wallflowers aren't a long-lived plant - maybe it's time to replace them?

Thank you both so much! Quite a few of the leaves are affected! I hate using pesticides but it might be the only option. I only got 2 of the wallflowers this year so they hopefully will last another season - the other 2 that I got last year are fine still.

you are right to hate using chemicals.

They kill too many things and they don't repair the damage on the leaves.
