Is this a no no?

moslgo says:

Hi All

I planted up my 'shady' border in April and as recommended by a couple of books and of which I didn't do, wait to see where the sun falls and it's seasonal positon in my new garden before planting the following year! ???? It is now in full sun for most of the day!!

Now by partner has made a lovely raised bed in an area that is actually always in shade/shadow of our fence, can I move the above plants to this bed now or should I wait until winter? Or can they not be moved now?

Thanks for your help

It depends  on what the plants are and how big they are.   Have you a photo if you don't know what they are?

    Hi there Mosligo,

I have replanted some geraniums recently and they are doing very well, though put rose feed on them and the feed seems to help as I believe they are part of the rose family.  I don't know about your other plants as I do not have those.  I tend to put in geraniums and roses as I am plagued by rabbits and rabbits don't tend to eat them because of their leather leaves I am told.  The other years have planted lavender bushes and the rabbit was a huge nuisance.  Hope this helps.

I think you'll be fine moving stuff as long as the ground isn't so hard that ,

    1. you break roots getting plants out and

    2. you can't break the ground up to get it around the roots when transplanted.

Water in well, don't let them dry out but don't flood them every day or they'll drown.

clattnow, I'm sure the feed will be fine but geraniums aren't in the rose family

I have now looked up geraniums and there is a geranium rose but yes you are right they are part of the cranesbill family.  The feed I feed them on is great stuff to use and they are looking fantastic. They are all in bloom.  Thank you for your advice.
