French breakfast radishes
Is there a way to tell if they're ready without pulling them up?
I've talked about my shady veg plot before and, although things are growing in it, the general rule seems to be that everything is taking longer than normal to mature.
I'm a bit worried my radishes aren't going to bulb because of the shade as they got quite leggy early on - but it also just seems they're taking a long time to get where they should be in terms of foliage.
They're interplanted with carrots so guess I can't leave them there forever but I wondered if there's a way to tell if they're done by looking at their tops?
They don't (yet?) have visible bulbs poking above the soil and it's now about 5 weeks since sowing (they were barely past seedlings at 3 weeks!)
Any tips much appreciated!

As a French native, this is the first time ever I've heard of "French breakfast radishes". Who on earth got the notion that French people eat radishes for breakfast?
Anyway, from my experience of sowing radishes, I would say that if they have not "bulbed" within about 3 weeks, they never will OR they will eventually grow to be un-edible.
