Whats wrong with my apple tree?

p.m. says:

Earlier this year I planted a Cox Orange Pippin tree, which appears to be thriving. It has had good leaf growth, a large amount of blossom, and now has a fair few apples growing. Over the last month or so, I have noticed that the majority of the leaves have developed areas of dead patches (photos attached). I have searched the internet and have not been able to diagnose the problem. Any advice gratefully received.

As likely as not it is Apple scab. This is the same sort of problem which affects Roses. Either ignore it or spray with a suitable fungicide. Collect up any fallen affected leaves and dispose, not in the Compost heap.

That's more rust than scab berghill, I'm seeing it on a lot of apple trees this year, same remedy but this weather is playing holy hell on so many plants this year it's difficult to get on top of it. Hope helps Nora.

I have a similar problem on an apple tree. I've picked off the leaves, it's on dwarf stock so relatively easy.

Can the tree be reinfected next year if there's another tree nearby with the same problem though?

I wonder if some of this might be physical damage?  There have been a lot of hail storms this year.

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
