Tomato leaves brown patches

Hi all,

As I imagine many are this year with the weird weather, I am having numerous issues with plants but muddling through.

However a couple of my tomato plants - Terenzo determinate type - have developed brownish soft patches which spread and make the leaves go limp, eventually the whole leaf being taken over.

I don't think it's blight as it doesn't look mouldy as such  - the patches are soft, with nothing corresponding under the leaf at first other than it appears flimsier in the same patches. Later it goes brown. Also it hasn't spread onto stalks or fruits.

I moved one out of the greenhouse, cut off all the affected leaves and it appears to have stabilised.

Could it be botrytis? I have auto vents and slats but temperatures and humidities are varying a lot with the very variable weather.

Thanks

Yes, it could be botrytis.  The damp weather we have had won't help.  Pick off any infected leaves. Make sure air circulation is good.

Thanks, I'm trying that as these were up on a raised bench in pots away from the slats. Other tomato plants (touchwood, fingers crossed etc) seem ok and are on the floor in two quadro things so probably get more air around them.

  • Hi Kevin some of my tomato plants are the same as yours this year and I too put it down

to the variation in temperature and also sun damage.

I also cut off the infected leaves and so far all seems good. so fingers crossed.
