Problems with tomatoes

Philippa 2 says:

Every year I grow a range of tomatoes including our favourite Costalotto Fiorentino and every year some tomatoes end up with black patch and streaks (not at the end of the fruit but along its length)  Does anyone have any idea what  causes this and how to stop it . It only happens to this particular variety all my other varieties are fine

I think it is because it is that variety. It is grown for flavour and not looks.

I agree, that one has extreme variety in the shape and colour of the fruit but is one of the tastiest.  I grow those mainly for cooking so they get diced and the 'cat faced' appearance is irrelevant.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Likewise but do you ever get black patches on your fruits?
