blackfly? ants?

went to check new blackcurrant bush and saw what looked like soil around  the tips, on closer inspection it looked like huge clumps of blackfly, with ants oon top, yuk. Also my climbing rose 'generous gardener , although toally healthy and flowering well, had a few clumps the same, loads of ants looked like they'd caused a wound in one stem in one place and were scurrying all over it, help and advice much needed and appreciated

The ants are probably "farming" the blackfly. Wash them off with a good squirt from the hosepipe, or soapy water in a sprayer.
