What grows well in a very shaded planter?
in Fruit & veg
I have a raised planter at the back of my garden.
It has a firethorn tree above it which casts it in shade for most of the day. It has a 6 foot garden fence behind it which also puts it in shade.
It is about 200cm x 60cm roughly.
The soil in it seems quite loose and gets dry very quickly.
I have tried to grow pak choi, carrots and rocket in it with little success. The rocket grow slowly and went to seed very quickly. The carrots and pak choi did not germinate.
I did manage to grow garlic in it though.
What would be good to grow in it? Potatoes? Do you think only root veg will work or can leafy veg thrive in shade?
