Pruning Stella Cherry Tree/ Japanese Weeping Cherry Tree

Could you tell me please whats the anual pruning regime for a Stella. And any useful tips to keep it in tip top condition. The weeping cherry is a similar question. The difference being I want to prune to encourage new growth to fill in one or two noticeable gaps. Or just let nature get on and sculpture it.

now is the time to prune cherries,
I would remove the tips of any new growth (back to five or six leaves on this years growth) that will encourage branching.
I would also remove any crossing/rubbing branches as well as anything that looks dead/dying/diseased.
