Prehistoric plants

I've been looking for inspiration in the garden lately as I've got a bit bored of the planting under the holly tree which is not very inspiring.

Then I thought what about some prehistoric plants and went to look some up and found these that I like:

Blechnum spicant, hardy fern that existed 350 million years ago before the dinosaurs.

Magnolia grandiflora, around 142 millions years ago before dinosaurs and as there were no bees around then they were pollinated by beetles!

Wollemi pine now available to buy. they were around in the Jurrasic era 200 million years ago

All available to see and buy from the eden project. I think my garden could be a more exciting place now :-)

Don't forget mare's tail (nightmare weed) and gingko biloba but, like eveything except the fer, too big to grow under a holly.   Maybe lichens and mosses?
