Little'uns

Hi all, I'm looking to fill in gaps in my garden with low growing ground cover flowers, but I'd something that hugs the ground and doesn't grow 'up'. Also something that keeps flowering a long time. I'm clay and north facing!

Can  anyone suggest a contender?  I like  the tiny verbena flowers but they grow!

    Hardy geraniums. image

Also, the prostrate Gaultherias. They're evergreen too.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I bought the ground cover collection from the Mail garden shop last year and they are definitely ground hugging. A couple of types of sedum, campanula carpatica , some odd wee dianthus which are a glorious screaming fucshia colour.

The selection is slightly different this year but here they are.

Some are more ground hugging than others but there are some good ideas.

I'm afraid the notifications are a bit hit and miss on the forum Breathe - rather than your Gmail!

Hope you got some ideas, but there will be lots more. My idea of ground hugging will be different from others - as you can see!

If you can improve drainage on your clay, it will give you more scope too.  image

I'm looking for colour so I may well go for the Mail offer. I usually HATE offers forcing me to buy an amount I wasn't looking for, but actually I think 30 may well fit the bill. See how they ' take' !

I love veronica peduncularis georgia blue.    It's got green/bronze foliage.  Evergreen (or nearly) and startlingly blue flowers.    Also known as veronica umbrosa georgia blue.  The pictures I'm finding online don't do the blue justice.   It grows together over time and is just lovely. Seems to flower from March onwards...

I am going with campanula Alba and confess I've forgotten the other! I ordered 12 but clicked twice!! So I'm getting a good amount!
