Buxus getting yellow

Hello,

I have planted around 20 Box plants around April this year. It was growing fine since then, new leaves started appearing around May and I was happy with it.

I just came back from holidays and noticed that old leaves started to go yellow. Most of the plants seems to be affected.

I believe it was raining quite badly in scotland in last 2 weeks - could this be a problem?

I would appreciate any help.

Martin

It could be box blight Martin. If the leaves start to fall and bare patches appear then that could be the problem.

Hi Martin, some yellowing is normal - on any evergreen - when newly planted. It's not too late to give them a tidy up to encourage some new growth too. Remove any dead or dying foliage and dispose of it carefully just in case.  If they have good soil conditions, a load of rain won't really matter. Keep an eye on them though.

Whereabouts are you? We do have a member in southern Scotland who has box blight in an established hedge.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
