Gorgeous colour.  I've planted three of them this year but none are near flowering,

Mine are flowering, probably being flattened by the wind and rain right now.

I pulled one out from between some paving slabs last year and put it in a border. It is flowering now . They seed readily and seem happy enough to be tansplanted. The paving slab issue seems to indicate that they don't need rich soil!

    In London. Keen but lazy.

If you can find the white form to plant close by you'll get interesting paler pink babies with splodged or striped petals.

Thanks all for interest, have had for quite few year and seed theirselves readily, easy to recognise new ones and pull up where not wanted to keep just a few.  I deadhead often,  they just keep on giving... Great

Obelixx, so glad you mentioned that because I recently saw a beautiful sort of 'apple blossom' looking type (white and pink) and was going to ask if anyone knew what it was! If I were to acquire seeds from it would the plants be same the colour ? (sorry if that's a daft question)

I think you would  get  a mix, like the packeted seed called dancing ladies. I grew this but all the white died out,  and I just have the carmine sort left.
