    oh, I meant what should I look for in the roots? I'm not sure I'd know a healthy root from an unhealthy root to be honest, is there anything I should look for specifically?

    Uh, I don't know either! image Any visible pests, dark or mushy spots, that sort of thing.

    It could be vine weavil,you have to water with rain water and water from the top.I've used nematodes that is watered in and it's ok to use.image

    Thank you all for the suggestions and advice, I will dig it up as soon as I get a chance and have a look see. I do like the idea of using nematodes to treat
