does any one have any knowledge of mock orange loosing its scent and if so what was the remedy

Maybe it needs some heat, something we've been lacking this year...
One that used to have a scent and now doesn't?
I don't think that could happen completely but scents are different with growth and weather conditions. The cool and wet weather we've had here hasn't made for good scents.

It's not me it's the client I work for and she should know they have been planted for around 30 years
It's probably due to temperature.
The warmer it is the better the scent.
The warmer it is, more volatile substances are released that make the scent stronger.
My philadelphus doesn't have much of a scent this year.
