I do have lips on my raised beds but the slugs still got in... My planters all have lips, they hid in there during the day, but I know and find them!! I put copper bands around the planters, supposed to deter 'em, the lil gits slithered across... I have a lot of slug n' snail corpses attracting flys now!! I may cremate them with my weed burner tomorrow.. This is War after all.. I had to put my planter with my Butternut squash plants on my garden tabke.. If its at ground level they will get them..They had 4 plants in one night..

Nematodes are the only real answer .....Yes they are expensive but I found last year that one application sorted the little b@@@@@s. My main problem are snails they are affected by the nematodes but not as much as the slugs. Make sure you have an old watering can that you can enlarge the holes in the rose as they sometimes get blocked.

How expensive do you thinkm I thought about £40 a time, and lets face it you can buy a lot of veg for that.

  • I've been using these and they seem to work particularly well.
