Please can somebody help me? My Sorbus for the last few years has developed less and less foliage. This year there's hardly any leaves but the flowers for the fruit seems ok.

Actually I've just realised that there's a white crisp coating on the bark. It's obviously some sort of fungas or something. Does this mean I've lost the tree or can it be rectified please?
