Infestation on my Day Lillies

Hi, I have a bg problem with my day lillies, see picture.  Buds are curling and there is something infesting it, very miniscule maggots have emerged - too small to get on camera.  What is this problem?  Will normal bug killer get rid of this?  Thank you again for your help.

You should remove abnormal buds and kill the maggots - I use boiling water. The maggots only affect the first flowers of the season, later flowers will be ok.

I think that's hemerocallis gall midge whose larvae eat the flower buds.

The RHS has this advice - https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?PID=742 scroll down to Control.

Been suffering with this for years. Sadly we have had to remove almost all of the Hemerocallis plants from the garden. Despite removing every flower bud on every plant for a couple of years, they are still affected. Plants which take up that much room and no flowers are not earning their keep. Hope you can solve it in your garden.
