Hi again Glen you could wait till its a dry day then do a controlled burn.
Its safe if you do a bit at a time but keep a hose handy just in case.
I did this myself a few years ago with good results.

Hi John, that does sound like a very interesting idea. What sort of things would I need? How would I go about doing it?
Hi Glen place a garden hose next to grass to be burned for safety.
Roll up an old newspaper to use as a torch light it and place on one corner of the dead grass.
Once alight keep an eye on it. The fire should spread a little at a time.
Only use the hose if it seems to be getting out of hand..
Do it on a day when there is no wind all will be well.
