Rose
in Plants
We planted a rose in April - Ruby. It is doing really well, and has masses of buds - about 30 - 40. Do I take some of them off - I don't want to overwork the rose in it's first year. Also can I do a summer pruning after the first flush of flowers have finished?

I would just deadhead after the flowers die off. Then prune it down as usual next March.
Do you think it can cope with some many flowering buds in it's first year fidgetbones? I have just given it another dose of manure - all of my roses in fact have had a second dose this year.
