Rose

We planted a rose in April - Ruby. It is doing really well, and has masses of buds - about 30 - 40. Do I take some of them off - I don't want to overwork the rose in it's first year.  Also can I do a summer pruning after the first flush of flowers have finished?

I would just deadhead after the flowers die off. Then prune it down as usual next March.

  • Do you think it can cope with some many flowering buds in it's first year fidgetbones? I have just given it another dose of manure - all of my roses in fact have had a second dose this year.
