Holly tree looking leaves

My holly tree is loosing leaves. I have never had a problem before. Maybe a few leaves now and again, but this year every day there is enough to fill a bucket. The tree is about 30 years old - is that the problem, and it is on its way out. Jean

I've lost a couple of well established 'tough as old boots' shrubs over the last year.
For me, at least, I think it's down to so little rain last year in this part of Essex.
