I dont know what the yellow flowered one is, but to the left of it is a dock which def is a weed and ought to come out.

  • Yes I know about the dock thanks fidgetbones. Been away for a week then a week of rain, and everything has GROWN, but the yellow thing which I had assumed was a weed and pulled out shoots in previous years, has flowered today so wanted to check!

nutcutlet, from pics online you're right, thanks! It's for sale on Crocus etc (diervilla sessilifolia) so officially Not A Weed image. And they say it goes well with hypericum, which it's  next to, so looks once again like another wise planting by our house's predecessor-before-last :)

if you don't like it, it's a weed.

If you like it it's a valuable garden plant. I like it though I haven't got any now.

  • My logic is, if it would've cost money it's Not A Weed. I use this logic to justify to thecatsfather spending more money ("well this has self seeded/appeared/grown from a cutting etc, and it would've cost £8, so I can now spend that £8 on Something Else") imageimage. Recently used after liberating a pretty campanula from between pavement slabs down the road, and transplanting valerian from the street gutter to the garden image
