Eleagnus and gooseberry problem

Hello all, I have attached a photo of the leaves of my gooseberry plant as it seems to have a problem. Is it rust? And if so what is the best solution?
I have also attached a photo of my young Eleagnus shrub as the leaves are turning bright yellow and there seems to be a thousand possible reasons for this so I thought it best to turn to the experts on here for advice. I fed the Eleagnus with Growmore in Spring, it's at the base of a wall but has been watered when very dry.
Any ideas?

Your gooseberry problem could be gooseberry anthracnose (otherwise known as gooseberry leaf spot), I think. It's a fungal disease which doesn't look good but shouldn't have a long-term effect on the health of your gooseberry bush. If you google "gooseberry leaf spot" and look on the RHS link, you can decide if that's the likely problem. There are no fungicides available to treat it; you have to rake up and burn the fallen leaves, and remove any which show signs of spotting, then feed, water and mulch the bush.
If that's the correct diagnosis and you give it some TLC, it shouldn't happen again next year, with luck!
Thanks Liriodendron, I'll look it up.
