Perennial wallflower?
erysimum bowles' mauve
Erysimum Bowles Mauve. And what a fabulous specimen it is.
it looks like hesperis matronalis, sweet rocket. The leaves looks wrong for Erysimum.
I might well be wrong.
Is it scented Kevan?
Could be Hostafan. The leaves don't look like erysimum to me either, though it's that family. I've never had a H. matronalis quite as floriferous as that.
In the sticks near Peterborough
I vote hesperis matronalis.
A close up of foliage and flowers would help (I keep failing with my idents!).
I've enlarged the photo - it's definitely Hesperis matronalis - foliage, flowers and immature seed pods are identical to mine except mine is the white form.
Mine is on a shady north facing bank. If the purple one gets plenty of sunlight that will explain why it's doing so well. This appears to be a very good year for Sweet Rocket

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Delightful Dove. I could do with some of that here
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
