Lilly diseases
Hello I am new to all this but need some advise on how to cure Lilly diseases as I have 3 pots of Oriental Lilly's that are fantastic but they are all now showing extensive signs of blotchy rust on their leaves and also loosing leaves. is there a cure? or not as I cant find one other than destroy the plant, which I really don't want to as they are exceptional plants. any advice helpful good or bad please.
Thanks, Adrian

Sorry Adrian. If it is lily disease then destroying is the only answer. The pathogen lives in soil and can be active for around 5 years so it is one good thing that you have them in pots. Do not put that soil/compost into your garden. Lack of a picture makes identification difficult though so it may not be lily disease at all. Do the rusty spots look roundish in shape to begin with? The pathogens may have been introduced to the soil/compost on the lily bulbs themselves.
Depending on the weather, my Lilies often have blotches on them so it could be the weather to blame. Without seeing a pic I could'nt say it's a disease, although if it is then of course Ladybird4 is right and they should be destroyed.
