yarrow2 -  We class ourselves very lucky, we have all sorts of birds including robins all year round and we feed them all year.

Many of the types nest in our garden, we had four pair of robins nesting this year as we have quite a lot of hedges                   for them. One sunday I was working in the garden and one pair built a nest on the dexion racking in my shed. image

This meant that the shed door had to be left open until the chicks had fledged.

Look how clever they were and used the heel of my set square to retain the material

We always have blackbirds and bluetits nesting in the garden while the wrens and robins nest over the fence in the woodland. This is the first year (in 48 of living here) that there is a nuthatch nest about 12 feet over the fence. The parents fairly get through the sunflower hearts.

We only have a tiny city garden so not a huge variety of birds.  Blue tits, great tits, coal tits, chaffinch, blackbirds, magpies, robin, with a grey wagtail and thrush appearing around Christmas for some reason but never any other time.  Until last week we had two broods of screaming starlings which were loud but very entertaining.  Don't know where they've disappeared off to, haven't seen them for days.  A lot more scope for them all elsewhere a bit more wild I think this time of year.  We normally have a few families of goldfinches later in the summer but no sign this year yet.  There are a number of quiet little dunnocks which potter around under foliage.  Nothing very unusual - but great to see anything.  Love your Blackie fidgetbones.
