blue plant or tree ideas

catstrongcatstrong Posts: 1

Hi, I am new to this forum and I hope someone can help it is a bit of a strange one but I am quite the novice when it comes to plants. My cat has recently died and I have had him cremated, I loved my cat had him for a very long time and he's a real miss. Normally we would bury him in the garden but I don't have one so I am thinking put his ashes in a large pot that I have with something really nice. Now here's the strange bit, my cat loved baby blue whenever there was a blanket etc... that was baby blue he would purr and cuddle it for days no other colour but baby blue. So I am wondering if anybody knows of anything that will thrive in a large pot something we can move with that's not hard to look after. I was thinking a tree of some sort with blue blossom. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Ceanothus has blue flowers and comes in deciduous and evergreen forms.   The deciduous forms are hardier than the evergreen ones.  https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?pid=354 Both can be grown as specimens or as wall shrubs.

  • Two suggestions: Ceanothus is a small shrub with blue flowers which might be ok in a pot.

Aster frikartii Monck is a herbaceous perennial with masses of blue flowers for a long time in summer and autumn, growing to about 30".

  • Would delphiniums work in a pot? Perhaps together with forget-me-nots ?
