    Just got back from a few days away. My roses have gone mouldy so just spent 3 hours up a ladder cutting all the dead ones off. I will apply my compost and feed with sequestered tomorrow. Too tired now, is it worth going away?image

    Can I be cheeky and ask, what is the name of the dark purple leaved plant in the centre of your second to last photo? The colour stunning.

    It's a Sambuca (elder) black lace. An excellent shrub, can be pruned to the size you want it. Behind it is very rare 4ft tall geranium, pratense album.image
