Living chives question

Slightly off tack, but I've just noticed this evening my chive flowers have gone black.  I've just deadheaded them.  Is this because of the rain or rust ?  Last year the same clump got rust so i had to cut it right down.  Is the whole lot likely to be affected and if so should I dig it up ? Should I then avoid planting it back in there ?

Hope you don't mind me jumping on this.  I love the way the bees love them so they are generally always buzzing.

Peanuts no problem. I think it's silly to start a new thread when this one is already up about chives. I can't answer your question because I am new to chives lol. But some of the experts here will know.

I still can't believe people are saying bees like chives! I learn something new here everyday! There I was thinking bees only like perfumed flowers. Are the chive flowers usually fragrant in a different way to chives then?

Obelix thanks for those links - those are fantastic lists!! I wll have to go through it. Plants I bought recently, apart from the chives that I saw on list so far are hardy geranium, honeysuckle serotina, Leucanthemum, Antirrhinum, agastache, poppy. Must be more. Thanks again !
