Victoria plum tree

i planted this last summer, and it has gone crazy growing, after looking at it closely i think its 2 different trees. Im not much of a gardener im afraid so have taken some pics. There is fruit growing this year but on on the skinny tree, the fatter 2 other parts of the trunk are just leaves and what looks like big spikes/ thorns. Do i cut the rougue parts of the trunk off to allow the plum tree to grow, assuming it isnt part of the same tree? imageimageimage

It's grafted onto a rootstock at the piece of tape. I've no idea how to get it back from there but somebody will. I do know that now is not a good time to be lopping bits off trees in case they bleed. You'll need to wait until it's dormant probably.

Blackthorn is often used as a rootstock for plums and that would explain the thorns you mention. As pp says, do not do any pruning until after the leaves have fallen and then remove the thorny tree back down to the graft point.
