i noticed these plants proliferating n Guildford Council hanging baskets last year - they were amazing. Can anyone please identify them for me ? "Thankyou"
Begonias and pelagonias
It looks like there is a fuchsia in the right hand side of the basket as well ( red flower with blue center)
oh, it's the "hanging" coral-pink flowers, drooping down, I am looking for. Are they just called "begonias " then ?
Yes. Don't let Monty Don catch you with some of those.
oh! why ?
He's not a fan apparently. I saw one in the GC this morning and it was stunning. It looked as though it had a torch lit behind it.
There is often snobbery about some popular plants. Eventually, many of them come back into fashion. A good example is dahlias.
There are some beautiful begonias and some that make me cringe. It's up to you which ones you like.
oh, "thankyou" for such kind info - understand
"Thankyou" everyone....
They are trailing begonias (you can get upright ones too). Possibly Dragon Wing or Million Kisses.
"Thankyou" Liriodendron - I bought some this afternoon Thankyou for responding,
Tads
