I'd like to be somewhere in between housemaids' knee and wilderness. The field part can stay fieldy but the paths up round the house would look so much better. It would look as if somebody lived here.
tell you what PP pm your address and Ill lend you my baby blue polka dot scissors and you'll get that path done in no time! It's just like cutting hair! Grab a clump, cut and chuck in weed bag! I promise it's proper addictive ha ha
When I was very young we went to visit my cousin whose garden was quite "relaxed". On the way home I announced that I loved Maggie's garden because her asparagus didn't grow in straight lines! I still love Maggie's garden and her asparagus still doesn't grow in straight lines! It's still delicious with butter too!
just use edging grass clippers, somestime scissors
i use my trowel to score along the edge and make sure the soil next to lawn creates a trench and is lower than the grass. then just trim to it every other week
Im with you on the scissors and jet washing Beaus Mum! All very satisfying to start off with Although when Im on my hands and knees with kitchen scissors I'm always cringing a little to myself that the neighbours are probably looking out from behind their curtains and either having a good giggle or rolling their eyes!
Don't know how i missed your garden pic just now Nut! ...think I read Beaus reply and it resonated with me I knew I had to reply. Beautiful. I can only imagine how much the wildlife enjoy it. Very natural and very beautiful. Doghouse' garden is beautiful too. I love seeing the garden pics and all the different styles we gardeners have.

You certainly don't need an edge there Nut, there is a time and place for some edges and your lovely bed don't need one ? It looks so lovely
Thank you Beaus mum and plant pauper, it's how we like it and the wildlife seems generally happy
