Dwarf bean leaf puckering

seakaleseakale Posts: 142

i sowed the dwarf beans early May along with the runners.

i know this was probably too early esp for the french beans.

the french beans have puckered leaves and are very spindly.

Should I cut my losses and buy new plants and plant in a difervent area of the veg plot

I think they'll improve as we get consistent spells of higher temperatures - hopefully.

The puckering could be aphids. Check the undersides of the leaves.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Actually I am thinking attacks from below in roots and above.  I planted in a rush, just before a holiday and in an area very close to the edges of the veg patch, probably swarming with pests.

they have a good base of horse manure, and then compost, but too early to sow really.
