Mouldering pumpkins

Hello all,

I've been trying to grow pumpkins for the first time this year, but am having trouble with the ones outside: first they went a funny yellow colour and now some of the leaves have holes in them.

Here's a picture of the worst one:

It's basically gone backwards since it was put in the ground about a month ago. The other two were also put outside in big pots and, although they were also starting to look ropy, I was able to put them back in the greenhouse a couple of weeks ago, and they're doing better now. The best of them now looks like this:

I'd like to plant the big one in the ground, but I don't want it to go backwards like the others have.

Any help appreciated.

It's been too cold and wet. Early on in the season, many pumpkin and squashes and courgettes do not set properly, then rot and drop off. Next week is forecast to be hot, that should help.

    hi

i couldnt agree more its just the weather we need heat.

My pumpkins, courgettes and patty pan have all been planted three weeks now and although you can see them getting established and showing some growth some leaves are untidy which will need a tidy up.

also from previous years some of the first fruits rot off but i have been informed that is quite the norm to which i would agree coz it has happened for a number of years however once established and kept in a feeding pattern with sunshine ?????? when it comes our bounty will be plenty.

keeping a good supply of comfrey liquid feed handy and feeding regular andkeeping the slugs at bay also is a full time job

i will post some pictures this week as with the poor weather i have had my plants under some protection

    happy gardening
