Top heavy Honeysuckle Browning Under Canopy

We have a large honeysuckle that has reached the top of a 7 foot wall. It has been flowering recently and has appeared to be in good health. However in the last three weeks it has started going brown under the heavy canopy. Blight seems to be spreading to other areas as well. We have had a lot of humid, dry weather which may have stressed the plant but it is obviously too top-heavy as well. Should I give it a trim now or wait until the autumn? Perhaps I should give it a dose of blood fish and bone? Can I do anything to stop the browning die-back underneath spreading? Maybe I should prune it a little now? It's all very confusing. Anyone got any ideas?
