can any one identify this shrub for me.. it is trained up a wall and protected by a canopy.. I've never noticed flowering before and wondered if the mild winter we had was the reason. Flowers are small no scent detected.
Just googled Aristolochia and there is a species that you can grow in the UK, a climber called Aristolochia macrophylla which is wild in the Appalachian Mts of the eastern USA. Flowers look like mini versions of the photo above, on the whole a not particularly attractive plant.
first I live in Derbyshire England and the second there is nothing gigantic about this flower it's smaller than my thumb. I googled Aristolochia gigantea but all the flowers seem far to big. The second suggestion looks spot on Aristolochia macrophylla, brilliant Invicta2.. thank you one and all.

Marmite moment. Is it nice because it's unusual, or is it ugly because it's unusual?
It reminds me of the awful Stapelia that smells of rotting meat to attract blowflies to pollinate it
Thank you your quick response's , two points
