Which plant best for spring pattern display

I am planning a display for spring looking for a good plant , the colours I will be using are blue , red , white .
What plant would be the best to use I am thinking pansy .what are your thoughts ?

Dwarf or Compact Rhododendron? Hino Crimson is a gorgeous red...
Thanks tanty2 but forgot to put looking for small bedding plants as doing a couple of motives .
Any ideas ?
Myosotis for blue / white - red/white tulips - red wallflowers.
Petunia are quite good for colourful displays and come in red and white, not sure about blue.
which months ? It's just that bedding plants such as busy lizzies, lobelia and petunias shouldn't really go out before mid-late May depending where you live.
if you are planning for March-April you could plant pansies and polyanthus, aubretia, forget me nots and maybe Iberis.
