Overgrown weeds and grass on lawn area

image

hi guys,

new member and new home owner. I've recently moved into my first home and I have an extremely overgrown lawn area in the back garden. Since moving I have sprayed some very strong weed killer on the area and have  what I can with my hands and got it down to a much more respectable level..still a million miles where I want it to be. Which is back to the lawn it once must have been... But I really don't know where to go from here .

Whats my next plan of action? Do I have to dig it up? ill attach me photos of where I've got it too. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Carlos and welcome image

If you have a look here http://www.gardenersworld.com/how-to/maintain-the-garden/how-to-renovate-your-lawn/

and scroll down you'll find a video on how to prepare the ground to lay turf.

    Hope that helps image

I guess il start the digging at the weekend and get myself prepared to turf down.

One of the most important things is the thorough firming of the soil before turfing - otherwise you'll have a lumpy and bumpy lawn.
