In the sticks near Peterborough
The suspense is killing me!
The plant has lance-like leaves at the base with a single stem about 50cm high. The flower is a cluster of purplish buds with a central red multi-petalled flower. It's growing in my front garden which is south facing.
Red flax, sometimes used in bird seed. Linux grandiflorum or linum coccineum.
Could it be Fox-and-Cubs ? (Pilosella aurantiaca) ?
Flowers a bit like dandelions but orange?
Orange hawkweed (Hieracium aurantiacum)
