Leaning logs in a wildlife pond

A few days ago I installed a lovely little pond, somebody suggested to me it would be a good idea to put two logs on the side of the pond (long thin ones) which are sloping in and this would help creat a 'benificle habitat' and would help with frogs and birds getting in/out of the pond. Can anyone comment on whether or not…
