Boggy raised garden.

Hi, my problem as the title suggests is that I have a rather boggy raised garden. Think of a bath with no plug hole or a very blocked up drain pipe!! Other than digging up the entire garden and installing proper drainage and re laying the garden, does anyone have any ideas of what else I could do? Thanks.

Hi Dan. Why not just have a bog garden. There are lots of beautiful plants that would flourish in that type of environment. If the ground is permanently waterlogged as opposed to just very wet then consider growing pond marginal plants like water forgetmenots, cotton grass and flag irises. If not so waterlogged then primulas, irises and ligularias.

Thanks, but we have a dog that goes bonkers in the garden, when it's wet he makes a right mess of the house ? it's not permanently boggy, just when we have a heavy rain and for a week or  so after, that's if it hasn't rained again. We also want to be able to use the grass for lounging around on in the summer as well.

Think you might need to do the digging if you want a nice lawn.

You could always astroturf for that perfect look without the mud image

I would be with ladybird but thats not quite so dog friendly.
