rhubarb

I have a rhubarb (Timperley) that I bought as a small plant last spring. It is growing well and looks ready to harvest but I read somewhere that you are not supposed to harvest rhubarb in it's first year. Is this technically it's 2nd year?

Not sure what to do. If I don't harvest it do I just leave it for the stems to rot off?

Hi. If its been in over a year then you could pull some stems now but don't be too enthusiastic and leave some to help the crown. Enjoy!
