Thank you, @star gaze lily ! My other project was a kitchen island that I purchased inexpensively from the Habitat ReStore (affiliated with Habitat for Humanity, who build homes for people struggling to afford housing). My kitchen counters are butcher block, so this fit in perfectly.
Before:
I painted the cupboard white and added a piece of bead-board to the bare side that had been affixed to a wall, and added new hardware to the drawer. I stained the legs to match my dining room table set. I had two stools, one black and one red, so I painted the red one black to match. I'm pretty happy with it. My little trash can and recycle bin fit perfectly underneath, and I keep all of my cat supplies in the lower cupboard.

Thank you, both! I'm really impatient when it comes to painting and staining, so they don't meet muster if you look at them close up.
I'm starting to decorate my little fake Christmas tree, and this year I want to make easy ornaments that are more natural. Yesterday I baked orange slices for the first time and I'm really loving how they look hung from the tree. If anyone has any ideas for natural ornaments, I'm all ears! I have some pine cones, and I've collected sticks to make into star ornaments.

Not entirely natural, but I make wool felt and cotton fabric ornaments with shiny sequins and beads to catch the lights and to hang lower down on the tree where the 2 cats and the Labrador's waggy tail wreak havoc with breakables. They are lasting well. The cream ones all go on a Scandinavian Xmas tree made form bamboo shoots cut from teh garden a few years ago.

Thanks @bullfinch. I have a nifty Sizzix machine which cuts felt and fabrics using templates. The folded fabrix "trees" begin with a 20cm/8 inch circle of fabric. All the hand-sewing is really quite Zen and keeps my hands busy while watching TV in teh evening.
My latest venture is hand-embroidered Xmas cards thanks to a gifted embroidery lady in the patchwork club - also very Zen once the basics are understood.

You have one too? I have used the embossing function of the big shot more than the cutters. The machine certainly does have huge capacities - for MDF, card, fabric. I am trying it with fresh petals to try and get prints (in the manner or ironing or hammering).
