Bamboo lack of leaves
I have two bamboo plants in large containers, they are not growing as expected and show a distinct lack of leaves - can anyone help with this problem please?

Hi Joan. Have they been in the containers very long? What are the containers made of?
Hello Joan
Could you post some photos please - that may give us some clues ...
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Joan - are they fairly new, as in a year or two or less? Photo would be helpful as well as how long you've had them, which ones they are (if you had a label or know that), what size of pot and size of plant, what compost you have them in and your watering/feeding habits and where your pots are in terms of sunlight, shelter, wind etc. They love moisture and too much drainage affecting drainage resulting in too much dryness can cause problems but there are some bamboos which don't throw out new shoots or growth in the first year. Could be any number of things depending on some of the above and other reasons.

Hello Yarrow, thanks for replying apologies for my delay in responding.
The plants are new to me last year, they are the Golden bamboo and are in multi purpose compost which I transferred them to after purchase to give the roots more space. The pots are 48 cm wide by 40 cm deep. They are in a sunny position, and have been subject to a lot of wind during the winter months. I have kept them well watered.
I have thinned out the none performing shoots and fed them on Miracle Grow.
Thank you for your help on this matter.
